\u2018Heavy Web Apparel\u2019 has been a fleeting dream of mine for years, an itch that has always been there (somewhere in the back of my mind), coming to the fore in those quiet moments when the mind wonders.\u00a0 This year, however, I had the opportunity to go all in, take the leap and work to establish a business from scratch.\u00a0 The summer of 2024 has been a test bed of design ideas \u2013 some good (some not so) and some that after weeks of testing, tweaking and reviewing you see across the Heavy Web signature collections today.<\/span><\/p>

Although I had a very clear idea of what I wanted Heavy Web \u2018to be\u2019; the products had to be great quality, the fabric had to be super soft, natural and organic, the packaging had to be plastic free, and the manufacture of the apparel had to be sustainable.\u00a0 I knew the ranges had to be good value for money and I knew that the brand had to be inclusive and have a clear identity.<\/span><\/p>

But what would define Heavy Web from other apparel had to be the designs.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 I believe we all shop first with our eyes, and the Heavy Web designs had to be bold, unique and set us apart from anything else on the high street.\u00a0 Customers had to feel good about wearing the apparel, and our Heavy Web pieces had to aspire to be those wardrobe favourites that you love wearing over and over again.<\/span><\/p>

Each design across our signature collections starts life in the same way. Always drawn first as a piece of art.\u00a0 Several sketches bring the concepts to life before being redrawn in pencil on extra heavyweight textured art paper (always my go to), defined in fine-liner pen, digitally traced and painstakingly rendered into a high-definition image.<\/span><\/p>

The designs across our signature collections become the characters that define each season at Heavy Web and are available across a wide range of apparel, accessories and gifting. In this blog I wanted to introduce you to some of my favourites from the HW Summer 2024 range.<\/span><\/p>

Jumping Spider.<\/span><\/strong>

<\/span>\"A\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

If you read my first blog, you will know that the jumping spider design gave me the confidence to kick on and establish Heavy Web; this was one of the first pieces that I had drawn specifically as a fashion design. And the jumping spider print sits above my desk in the HW Studio as a personal benchmark for all future pieces.<\/span><\/p>

Punk Duck.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\"A<\/span><\/p>

Punk Duck is a bold, bright and playful design.\u00a0 A classic rubber duck made unique with a flash of green, white and red mohawk hair.\u00a0 The highlights across the body of the design follow the signature HW style (realistic from a distance but visibly geometric from up close) making it an instant Heavy Web classic.<\/span><\/p>

By The Night.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\"A<\/span><\/p>

Featuring our Heavy Web Owl, the body of our \u2018By The Night\u2019 design is blue and red and is one of the pieces I love wearing; but for me the most striking feature is the piercing yellow eyes.\u00a0 This is one of my favourite designs and looks amazing as a large back print on the longer line tee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Tree Frog.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\"A<\/span><\/p>

The Tree Frog alongside our Jumping Spider complete our HW Rainforest Collection for 2024.\u00a0 I wore this design on our summer holiday and the reaction from people was amazing; an instant Heavy Web classic, for me this is our print of the summer. \u00a0The tree frog was one of the quickest designs to come together, I designed it, rendered a digital outline and completed the design in a single 15 hour block through the night whilst our son was in hospital (thankfully he\u2019s fine now).<\/span><\/p>

The Deep.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\"A<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The Deep is a playful take on a creature from the bottom of the ocean, a yellow octopus with blue and purple tentacles. This design looks great on a classic white tee or as an eye-catching print on our organic cotton vest.\u00a0 The creature from the deep is loved by my children and is always a conversation starter when out with their school friends.<\/span><\/p>
